So how does Charley Parker meet people? She isn’t on MyFace (Facebook) or any other of the social networking sites—at least for now.
Well a year prior to our No Strings, Please timeline (as the story goes), Charley joined a “hook-up” site, Flingz-r-us. Upon arriving to DC and changing the location on her profile and she meets some very interesting folks in the DMV. From a personal trainer to the son of a wealthy developer. The follies of online “dating” are exposed through this episode.
We also explore topic of internet shaming or slut-shaming (…the act of making any person feel guilty or inferior for certain sexual behaviors or desires that deviate from traditional or orthodox gender expectations, or that which may be considered to be contrary to natural or supernatural/religious law). This makes Charley think twice about the “hook-up” site idea and dangers connected with it.
From the online animations to the multiple date locations this was another tough episode to produce but probably the most fun to create. The episode was rewritten halfway through production and a chain of events to change a few other episodes ensued. The director, Gemal Woods, also had to join a hook-up site for uh…research on this episode.
